30.11.2017 The demining capacity has been increased in 2017

The demining capacity has been increased in 2017 (number of manual clearance teams increased from nine in 2016 up to twelve in 2017), and based on progress reports as of November 2017 app. 1.2 sq. km of landmines and Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) contaminated land was released. This figure comprised 80% out of annual planned target (1.5 sq. km). As a result, more than 10 000 landmines and ERW were identified and destroyed mainly in remote and hard-to-reach areas (mountainous) and 24 released areas were cleared and handed over to local authorities for safe usage.
The Land release efficiency has been significantly increased in 2017. The number of found and destroyed landmines/ERW increased up to 10800 items, which is three times more compare to 2016 (3200 items).

04.01.2013 More than 2 Million Square Meters of Land Released in Tajikistan in 2012

The Tajikistan Mine Action Centre released its annual statistics for all land release operation that took place in 2012. In total, more than two square kilometers of contaminated land has been freed from landmines and other explosive remnants of war.

01.10.2012 Efforts to Make Tajikistan Mine-Impact Free

Tajikistan can be mine-impact free by end of 2015. The Tajikistan Mine Action Programme has started a process of ‘nationalization’ and efforts are currently undertaken to establish TMAC as an official national agency under the Government of Tajikistan. In order to reach this aim, UNDP has invited all development partners and high-ranking Government officials to participate in a meeting on 25th September, United Nations Development Programme, 39, Aini Str., Dushanbe in which the future programme and financial strategy has been discussed.

04.04.2012 International day on Mine Action Awareness

In the 4th of April, the Tajik Mine Action Centre (TMAC) organized the celebration of the International Mine Action Day, dedicated to the awareness of the hazard of landmines in the country.

14.03.2012 Accreditation of Mine Detecting Dogs and Mechanical Machines 

TMAC Quality Management (QM) team conducted accreditation and testing the NPA Mine Detecting Dogs (MDD).

The legal framework for the Tajikistan mine action programme rests on the following instruments: the Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production, and Transfer of Anti-Personnel (AP) Mines and on their Destruction from 18th of September 1997 (the Ottawa Convention) and the Protocols II and V to the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW) (.....)
