FSD

The Swiss Foundation for Mine Action (FSD) is an international mine action organization based in Geneva, Switzerland. Established in 1997, FSD is a private, independent, and non-profit organization. Since then, it has implemented a number of mine clearance projects in more than 15 countries.
In Tajikistan, FSD started humanitarian mine clearance activities in 2003. An agreement between FSD and Government of Tajikistan was signed on June 20, 2003 and ratified by Parliament of Tajikistan on June 30, 2003.
FSD operates with a capacity of manual multipurpose de-mining teams, Mine Detection Dogs and Mechanical De-mining Machines. FSD also implements the “Weapon and Ammunition Disposal” (WAD) project and the “Cross-Border” project between Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
The WAD operations are supervised by the Ministry of Defense and are conducted at the central demolition site (CDS) in Lahur, close to Dushanbe. Conventional ammunition from the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Interior, the National Guards and, in the near future, the Border Guards is being disposed in Lahur.
