NPA

Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) is one of the largest NGO’s in Norway, which has been conducting activities in international development since 1939. NPA runs more than 400 different projects in 30 countries around the world.
One of the main NPA activities is Mine Action. NPA is presently working in 18 mine affected countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and Middle East. In Tajikistan NPA started humanitarian mine clearance in September 2010 with a capacity of four manual multipurpose de-mining teams.
An agreement between NPA and Government of Tajikistan was signed on August 6, 2010 and ratified by Parliament of Tajikistan on October 3, 2011.
To increase the operational capacity of the Tajikistan Mine Action Programme within capacity of the Committee of Emergency Situation and Civil Defense in September 2011, NPA established a Mine Detection Dogs Centre (MDDC). The MDDC has recently been provided by 10 dogs from the NPA Global Training Centre in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
