TMAC staff successfully completed training course on “Team building and communication skills with landmine survivors”, which was conducted by professional psychologist Davlatov M.T. during two weeks in January 2009.

The training aimed to develop knowledge and skills in communication with landmine/ UXO and cluster bombs survivors.

Psychologist Davlatov M.T., lecturer of Tajik National University has a huge experience in the applied psychology. Starting from 2006 he has been facilitating individual and group sessions to  survivors of landmines/UXOs and cluster munitions in assisting them to regain and maintain a healthy and positive outlook on life. These sessions were mostly held at the Summer Rehabilitation Camps organized by Tajikistan Mine Action Centre (TMAC), NGO “Harmony in the World” together with other partners.

The training course involved participants to gain detailed information about the interrelationship between staff on raising effective communication with the survivors. Importance of the training sessions raised attention to the sensitive issue concerning Mine Victims.

Training consisted of the three main parts. First part was devoted to the effective communication at the work place and team building. Among the discussed issues there were following - definition of communication; preamble and subject matter of communication; objectives of communication; types of communication.  

The second part of the training consisted of psychology of communication and the ways of prophylaxis and coping with conflict. Formula, reasons and signs of manifestation of conflict as well as the ways of prevention conflict have been discussed. Furthermore, the third part of training covered the psychology features of landmine survivors and establishment of healing communication with them.
