Mine Risk Education: The Effective Way to Save Lives

In November 2008, the local staff of Mine Risk Education implemented drawing competition among schoolchildren of the schools located in mine affected and border areas of the country. Through training mine risk educators and implementing an MRE program in affected communities and for schoolchildren, TMAC has achieved goal to reduce the number of incidents among schoolchildren in Tajikistan.

Introduction

Tajik children learn about the dangers of mines through educational competitions as drawings, writing essays, etc.

 

In traditional border communities children are majority who attends hills and fields that mine hazard exist to collect wood, grass and pasture domestic animals.
