I was 12 years old when it happened. I used to take
out herd for grazing. That day I went with my group
of my friends. I was in a good mood and was running
ahead of everyone. Suddenly I tripped and fell down
on my hands. But there was a mine there. I don’t
remember what happened next. I was unconscious. I
don’t even remember who took me to the hospital but
when I woke up I realized that my left arm was
amputated. I was shocked. I couldn’t believe I
didn’t have an arm anymore.
When I was discharged from the hospital I had
nightmares all the time. I was too ashamed to visit
relatives or go to family gatherings. I hated
people staring at my arm which wasn’t there
anymore!
In 2005, I finally got prosthesis from the
National Orthopedic Centre. It was hard fitting it
at first as it made the pain more severe but I can
manage now.
I’m a student in the 2 class of a Special Boarding
School for Children with Disabilities, I get
professional training.
My dream is to have my own small business and get
married.
